ICINGA : check_nrpe "Unable to Read Output", STRACE output included (not a permissions issue)

I have created services to monitor 2 remote servers using check_nrpe. Both are configured identically, on one machine the service works fine, on the other it gives "Unable to read output". If I run the configured check command directly on the remote server it works fine, it only fails when run by check_nrpe? Other commands on that server that are run by check_nrpe also work fine. I know this is NOT a permissions issue, nor is it SSL related.

Please find attached 2 strace output files, one for the working server, one for the not working server (on a cursory check, they look pretty much identical apart from the last few lines).

Thanks In Advance
